A flipping good time! Greenwich Market holds pancake races to raise money for charity

Greenwich Market held its annual Pancake Day event on Tuesday 17 February in aid of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

Over 200 participants competed three at a time to see who was the fastest to run up and down the courtyard while flipping a reusable pancake.

Robinson, 39, Duty Manager of Greenwich Market said: “The market is the heart of the community and then bringing the community together is part of the job. It’s part of the market.”

The Pearly Queens of Bexley and Royal Greenwich – representatives of a working-class London tradition which dates back to the 19th century who dedicate their time to raising money for charity – hosted the event.

The winner of each three-person race was awarded a goodie bag, in collaboration with the preserve brand Bonne Maman, and a medal.
