The George Goldstone Charity 3×3 is hosting the biggest one day 3v3 basketball tournament in the UK in Deptford tomorrow.
The George Goldstone Charity 3×3 or the GG3x3 will host 52 teams with more than 300 spectators, in its sixth annual summer charity basketball tournament.
It will take place in the newly built Blue Cage Courts in Deptford on Sunday from 10:15am to 8:00pm and is free to attend.
Martin Dyan the founder of GG3x3 said: “It’s an honour to be putting on this event each year in George’s memory. The tournament represents a celebration of the passion we shared for basketball, while creating a positive, fun event for the whole community to enjoy.
“The 3×3 basketball and entertainment will be amazing to watch. We’re going to have a festival vibe and I can’t wait to see everyone there.”
Spectators, alongside cheering for their teams, will be able to enjoy a number of extra activities such as a dunk show, a dance crew performance and a special 3v3 zone where the public will be able to test their own basketball skills.
The event will also include a special appearance by Shanice Beckford-Norton who won the silver medal at this year’s Commonwealth Games.
The GG3x3 is a non-profit organisation that was created to honour the life and passion for basketball of George Goldstone, who passed away due to cancer in 2016.
It started of as one-day one-off charity tournament event in 2017 to raise money for charities and support the basketball community.
So far it has coached 300 players for free and has run events for 700 players, as well as raising £16,000 for various charities.
The GG3x3 has since grown, with this years sponsors being The Edit LND and Red Bull, and it hopes to raise awareness for blood cancer.
