One in four Londoners have already used the Elizabeth line, poll reveals

Nearly a quarter of Londoners have now ridden on the long-awaited Elizabeth line, a survey from a leading pollster has revealed.

Data from YouGov found 24% of adults in London have used the capital’s new transit service, while 70% have not.

The survey also showed that more than a third of passengers rode the Elizabeth line just to see what the new route was like, with 37% of respondents saying they took the purple line for the experience.

Conversely, 73% used it to get to their required destination.

Known as Crossrail during development, the Elizabeth line opened for passengers on 24 May after years of delays.

The line was originally scheduled to open in 2018, but the date was pushed back several times and the cost of the project soared.

The line currently operates between Paddington and Abbey Wood, with the full timetable of services expected to be running by May 2023.
