Calls to ‘go analogue’ in 2026 have taken over social media and online discourse as smart tech users become more conscious of the role screens play in our lives – and how it might be fuelling loneliness.
An Ofcom report from late last year revealed that adults spend an average of four and a half hours online, and 2024 data showed almost half of British teens felt addicted to their phone.
International unplugged events network The Offline Club seeks to provide phone-free spaces for people to socialise and connect.
At Something Good Workshoips in Deptford, the group’s London chapter, led by Laura Wilson and Megan Lupo, hosted a phone-free craft session where attendees had the chance to draw, knit, paint and socialise with devices out of the picture.
