Tucked away in Bermondsey, Morocco Bound is an independent bookshop and bar that transforms into a live events venue after dark.
They host a huge array of events each month ranging from poetry readings to book launches to jazz evenings to comedy nights and more.
Folk night, described by the organisers as the event which best captures Morocco Bound’s spirit, is hosted twice monthly.
A group of musicians turn up, some regular, some who have never been before, and they sit in the corner and play a lilt of folk tunes on a variety of instruments from the Violin to the Clàrsach (Scottish harp).
Guests can buy tickets online or on the door to unite with their friends, or enjoy the music alone, whilst drinking one of the craft beers or wines the bar has to offer.
Through live performances and conversations with organisers and musicians, watch below as the video explores how small, independent spaces like Morocco Bound create opportunities for music, connection, and creativity in South East London.
