Bring your baby pub quiz getting parents together in South East London

Weekday baby friendly pub quizzes are helping to tackle parental isolation across London.

Bring Your Baby trivia events have been running since before the pandemic but now see regulars at the afternoon events all across London.

Rebecca Gregory, a frequent attendee at the Crystal Palace event, said: “It is my favourite thing to do on maternity leave, it feels like a night out.”

The events are stocked with facilities so no parent has to leave the table when changing nappies.

Founder Lucy Madison said: “We don’t want to ostracise any parents, it is not in our ethos.

“It is for those people that might not have managed to find likeminded people at baby groups, it can be really isolating.”

Lucy and her partner Anthony tailor the questions to what they call ‘baby brains’.

Rebecca said: “It is great to have something else to focus on other than the babies and is great to use your brain.”

Lucy added: “The events are hosted in pubs on their least busy day and sometimes open especially for the occasion”

Richard the First pub, host of the Greenwich quiz, said: “It has grown into a regular fixture in the community calendar and offers a welcoming and relaxed environment.”

Rebecca added: “Sometimes the other pub goers ask what is going on when the parents come in en masse with babies but it is part of the fun when the babies cry.”

The Bring Your Baby brand offer guided walks across London and events in Oxford and Bath for parents.

They are committed to making the events as accessible as possible before expanding.
