March Against the Far Right - September

London Green Party lends support to anti-far right coalition ahead of march

The London Green Party has officially endorsed the civil organisation collective the Together Alliance, ahead of the society’s planned march to stop the far right protest in the city centre on Saturday.

The organisation, which has seven million members, is a coalition of 250 societies that aim to mobilise people against far right politics through collective action.

They are currently endorsed by 53 sitting MPs, eight local parties and the Socialist Workers’ Party.

Having garnered support from artists ranging from Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. to comedian Steve Coogan, they have also recently announced a line-up of prominent DJs to soundtrack the march on Saturday.

“The politics of the far right are deeply regressive, now more than ever,” said Livvy Gibbs, Movement Lead for the London Green Party.

“Joining the Together Alliance is about being clear that London belongs to all of us.

“When we stand together across our communities, we are far stronger than division.”

The march, which will be starting at midday in Park Lane in central London, will be accompanied by an anti-racism rave organised by House Against Hate in Trafalgar Square.

The programme unites some of electronic music’s biggest names such as Ben UFO, Daniel Avery, and also features sets by Shygirl, Greentea Peng, and Jessie Ware for a projected six-hour session.

It follows similar rave protests events from 2024, 2022, and 2019, with House Against Hate being organised in association with the Together Alliance, Love Music Hate Racism, Amnesty International Black Artist Database, and Homo-Centric Records.

“Dance music has always soundtracked protest and activism,” said organiser and artist Gideon. “Now is time to reboot the tradition and kick-start the revolution, united as one.”

A statement by the Together Alliance stresses that “strength lies in solidarity” in the face of growing political tensions on a national scale, and that for the 250-strong collective, “enough is enough”.
