Heavyweight Johnny Fisher was left proud of his team after Matchroom Boxing extended its broadcast deal with the streaming giant for a further five years.
The agreement was announced at The Pelligon in Canary Wharf, where Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn gathered staff and fighters, including Fisher, to mark the occasion.
Following confirmation of the extension, Fisher underlined the personal significance of the deal for both himself and the promotional company.
The Romford-born boxer said: “I’m with Matchroom, with Eddie and Barry Hearn, who are from the same neck of the woods as me and it’s great to see them being successful.
“I’m very proud to be a small part of that success that they’ve got which spans over generations.
Fisher added: “DAZN is a global platform, not just for boxing, and not just in the UK and Europe, it’s all over the world and that’s exciting to be a part of.”
Speaking on stage alongside DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev, Hearn explained why Matchroom committed its future to the broadcaster.
He said: “In boxing you can be a great promoter, but without a great broadcaster or a broadcast deal, you’re nothing.
“But when you’re a great promoter with a great broadcaster, in my opinion you’re unstoppable.
“DAZN is the only partner that matches our ambitions for boxing. Their global platform, investment, passion, and commitment to boxing make them the perfect partner for Matchroom Boxing’s fighters and events.
“We were never going anywhere else. Where the platform is – I’d be an idiot to look at anything else.”
Fisher’s last outing came on 6 December when he stopped Ivan Balaz in the fourth round in Monaco, recovering from an early knockdown to secure victory.
The win followed the first defeat of his professional career seven months earlier, when he suffered a fifth-round stoppage loss to Dave Allen.
Asked what lies ahead in 2026, the 26-year-old revealed he is heading overseas before returning to the ring.
He said: “2026, the year of the flaming horse has just begun.
“What’s new? Nothing really. I’m going to Australia tomorrow, to enjoy some sunshine, training hard with Tony Sims.
“Just enjoying life and living every day to the fullest.”
Nicknamed ‘The Romford Bull’, Fisher holds a professional record of 14 wins and one defeat since making his debut in February 2021.
Last December, Hearn revealed plans are in place to guide Fisher towards a British title opportunity in 2026.
