In 2024, Ofcom announced that less and less people were using dating apps.
This has led to a growth in new kinds of matchmaking events that prioritise connecting in real life, such as speed dating and mingling.
Kim, the founder of Queer Love Co and curator of Queer Love Fest, runs many events to try to matchmake queer people in a way that makes them feel comfortable.
Queer Love Fest was a whole day, full of workshops to connect queer people with their community, set in Music Room in New Cross on Valentine’s Day.
Beautifully created for varying needs, there was a quiet area, spaces for mingling and even a rejection booth, for those who need some space when feeling rejected.
