LISTEN: South London choir carolling to raise money for cancer charity

Each year, this southeast London choir picks a charity to raise money for across all of its events and performances for the duration.

This year’s charity of choice for Tongue and Groove choir was the South East Cancer Help Centre, which aims to supporting those going through cancer diagnosis or treatment, as well as their families.

Based in Purely, the South East Cancer Help Centre provides both one-to-one and group therapies, as well as arts and crafts and cinema clubs, all with hope of alleviating some of the difficulties of those going through a tough period in their lives.

The selection was personal, with cancer having touched the lives of several of the choir’s members.

A record-breaking year for the choir saw £2700 raised for the cancer charity, as they introduced a festive theme to their chorus, taking to the streets of East Dulwich to sing Christmas carols.
